Miracle Turmeric Mask for Acne & Acne Scars | RADIANT & Supple Face
2017 and 2018 were two incredibly stressful years of my life. To put it, ahem, eloquently – they sucked. Acne, acne everywhere – cheeks, nose, forehead…you name it. That’s when I found this miraculous, super effective turmeric face mask for acne.
My skin had also become really dull and lifeless. I wasn’t taking care of it (neither was I sleeping well), so why wouldn’t it be. Finally, when I’d had enough of taking my skin for granted, I found the power of turmeric to fight my acne.

Miracle Turmeric Mask for Acne – The Recipe
My favourite turmeric face mask that is super effective against acne and dull skin is also just as easy to make. All you need is:
- 1/2 teaspoon organic turmeric
- 1/2 tablespoon full cream or full cream milk or full cream yogurt
In a small dish or bowl, take your cream and add the turmeric powder. Mix well.
Using clean fingers or a mask brush, spread the mixture evenly on your cleansed face.
Keep it on for a good 10-15 minutes before washing off.
Make sure you wear an old t-shirt, and be careful while applying the mask and washing it off. Turmeric really stains everything.
How to Use This Mask
I have combination skin which tend towards oily during the monsoon. I use this turmeric face mask once a week every week for acne.
This face mask showed improvements in my acne from the first use itself. Not only effective against my active acne, it even lightened my acne scars and brightened up my whole face, giving it a radiant glow.
Why this Turmeric Mask is so Effective Against Acne
Have you heard of Alpha-Hydroxy Acids in skin care? AHAs are wonderful agents of gentle exfoliation, especially helpful for people with acne-prone skin.
Lactic acid (which is present in the full fat cream/milk/yogurt) is a classic AHA that will gently exfoliate the outer layers of your skin. It’s much more effective and much more gentle and safe than a physical exfoliator.
Meanwhile, the curcumin in the turmeric is extremely effective in killing acne-causing bacteria (and even fungi when it comes to fungal acne). Not only that, turmeric reduces inflammation associated with acne.
So, the lactic acid acts first by gently peeling away the outermost, dead skin layer, allowing the turmeric to get right to the acne problem areas. Both act together to not just kill active acne, but reduce acne inflammation and redness, fade acne scars and finally, impart a gorgeous glow to your skin.
Some Other DIY Acne Face Mask Recipes with Turmeric
Riding on the success of the original turmeric face mask, over the last few years, I’ve used other face masks with turmeric and some other ingredients too. All these turmeric face masks have had different effects on my face, which I’ve mentioned along with the recipes.
Remember to patch test these ingredients, and needless to say, don’t use any of the ingredients that you are allergic to!
Honey + Lemon + Turmeric Face Mask
To 2 tablespoon of pure honey, add in half a teaspoon of lemon juice and half a teaspoon of turmeric.
Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes and then apply an even layer on your face.
This mask helps lightening hyper-pigmentation, acne scars and also helps remove tan. It is good for all skin types.
The honey in addition to the turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial too, so this would help with active acne as well.
Fuller’s Earth/Multani Mitti + Rose Water + Turmeric Face Mask
To 1-2 tablespoon of Fuller’s Earth aka Multani Mitti, add half a teaspoon of turmeric. Next add between 1 to 2 tablespoons of rose water; the quantity depends on how much you need to get a spreadable paste consistency.
This is a face mask particularly suitable for oily skin types or when the weather is particularly humid.
The fuller’s earth helps draw out impurities from within the skin and the rose water acts as a great toner and astringent.
Papaya pulp + Turmeric Face Mask
Cut a few cubes of a ripe papaya fruit and pulp it in your blender, food processor, or simply, with your fork. Take 2 tablespoons of papaya pulp and add 1 teaspoon of turmeric.
Apply this on your face and let it stay for 20 minutes.
Both papaya and turmeric have soothing anti-inflammatory properties and act against active acne as well as acne scars. Papaya also imparts a gorgeous glow to the face.
This is suitable for all skin types.
Banana pulp + Yogurt + Turmeric Face Mask
To 1 tablespoon of mashed banana (use a blender, food processor or just mash with a fork), add 1/2 tablespoon of creamy yogurt and 1 teaspoon of turmeric.
This face mask is perfect if you want that gorgeous glow after a professional facial (but right at home of course!). It helps lighten skin and is a great face mask to remove tan.
Suitable for all skin types, but particularly beneficial to dry-skinned people.
Tomato juice/pulp + Turmeric Face Mask
To 2 tablespoons of tomato pulp, add 1/2 a teaspoon of turmeric. Keep on face for 15 minutes.
This is the most effective de-tan face mask you could try at home. If you repeat this face mask once a week for a month, you will be able to successfully remove any extra tan! Tomato is also a great astringent, regulating the activity of pores and preventing any acne outbreaks.
Both through experience, and reading scientific literature, it’s immediately obvious that turmeric is the perfect natural remedy to fight against acne.
While it’s most beneficial when consumed through food and supplements, it also proves its worth when it comes to topical application.
These turmeric face masks are effective against acne, acne scars and also for hyper-pigmentation or dull skin. Give them a go and leave us a comment with what worked best for you!
